Will 1 year old be protected from stomach bug?

She turns 1 tomorrow and myself, OH and DS have all came down with a stomach bug since saturday night. Its been brutal and im praying she doesnt catch it but im doubtful as it seems to be spreading very easily despite trying our best to stay away from the infected person as much as possible and practicing good hand washing/ using antibacterial gel.

She had the norovirus vaccine at her earlier immunisations. Would this protect her now or not?

Sorry, the rotavirus vaccine.

Only if it's rotavirus you've had!
The RV vaccine will only protect against RV. Not against any other sickness bug.

Thanks. Im hoping it was but is there anyway to tell? Is rotavirus the most common (& therefore vaccinated against)?

RV is most common in children - most adults have some or full immunity.
It's impossible to know really. RV was very common in small children pre vaccine. It tends to be less common or less severe in adults because of the earlier acquired natural immunity.

The only way you'd know is through lab testing!

I'm afraid that if you adults had it badly, it's less likely to be RV which in adults with a normal immune response is often just a bit of nausea, feeling like you might be sick but not really, and maybe a few looser than average stools. hope your youngest escapes it, whatever it is!

My 2 yo had his vaccine on schedule - as a family we've had 2 maybe 3 stomach bug bouts since then where 4/5 of us have had it and he has escaped every time with just a bit of loose bowels or off his food.
