Daughter's periods occasionally awful

DD (15) has on 3 occasions in the last 18 months had a period which has made her throw up every hour or so, physically shake and feel awful for 1-2 days. Why would this be? On other months she has absolutely no pain at all. Periods well established for the last 2 years.
Any ideas? Planning to take her to Dr next week but it's horrible seeing her so upset by them.

I was like this as a teenager. It was never good but some months so much worse than others. All as you describe, the pain, the shaking (thighs in particular) the vomiting and I used to faint too.

Going on the pill at 16 sorted me out. I have several DDs and only one had the same problems (worse if anything) and the pill didn't help. Eventually at 19 she had a laparoscopy to confirm nothing was very wrong. As she was under GA the surgeon fitted a mirena coil and that finally sorted her out. That was about 9 years ago, she's on her second coil and has never looked back.

Just wanted to reassure you that, whilst it's ghastly, it doesn't suggest something awful.
