I've just noticed worms in my DD's poo. Please tell me I'm not going to catch them too. I'm really freaking out right now. Poor DD Sad

You might catch them although adults tend not to get so infested. Buy some Ovex tomorrow and dose the whole family. They'll be gone in a few days.

I'm going to the pharmacy first thing in the morning. Hot washing everything and bleaching/antibac-ing every surface. Is there anything else I need to be doing??

I've warned DD not to touch/itch her bottom and to throughly wash hands after toilet and before food.

The chances are she may scratch in her sleep so clip her nails a little so they are easier to wash.

I bought a steam cleaner when my DS had them! Steamed everything then wiped with a cloth. Changed bedding daily. I reckon it was a bit OTT though. 👍

I had pinworms when I was little. Horrible. Hope you get it taken care of soon

Onesies are good to sleep in during an outbreak - they can't scratch their bums at night with them on!

Thanks for the replies. I think, luckily, I caught them early on as no other symptoms and no more worms spotted. We took the medicine the next day and I completely sanitised the house. Second dose of medicine for DD in the next few days just to be sure though!

If one person in the house has worms, everyone has to be treated, go to the docs ASAP! On a more positive note, worms have been used in scientific research to treat gut diseases. I'd rather worms than bed bugs, silver linings and all that!
