Chicken Pox without blisters...???

Hi,
My DS was diagnosed by the nurse as having chicken pox on Tuesday, the first spots appeared on Saturday. But... he didn't and still doesn't have any typical chicken pox blisters. They have been pinkish red spots that the top comes off and and then a small scab forms. No temp, eating ok, a little itchy but nothing compared to DD when she had it (with text book blisters and scabs etc).

He was exposed to Chicken pox 14 days before the first spot appeared and so it does fit the time frame, but it's just that it doesn't seem to look like or or be behaving like typical chicken pox.

Has anyone else experienced chicken pox without the blisters?

Thanks for any advice.
