Baby excessive ear wax

Has anyone's Lo had loads and loads of ear wax? It literally drains out of her - every week I can coat a cotton wool bud both sides with it (i don't insert into the ear just twist gently at the entrance). It is a problem or symptom of anything else? Should I be worried about it? Will it affect her hearing? Just not sure why she's producing so much. By contrast I've never even seen ear wax on my other child.

One of my children is very waxy. I have to clean his ears daily and have done since he was a baby. He is 10 now. I wish I could sell the stuffGrin

If it's soft and coming out it shouldnt affect hearing. Dont use buds though, a flannel is mote than adequate. If you're concerned ask the gp to.take a look with an otoscope next time you're there Smile

Thanks - I'll try a flannel - it sort of sits at the entrance to the ear in lumps/rolls!
Caprianna did your lo have any hearing problems?

DS is the same! I buy baby cotton buds which can't be inserted too far and clean his ears every few days. It is very unsightly otherwise. If it dries it falls out of his ears in clumps. It is a family trait on DH's side apparently.

Ah my toddler is the same, clumps of wax just sit in the outer bit of his ear, yacky. His hearing is spot on, I guess some are just waxy?!

Borttagen · 31/08/2017 21:28

My 4 year old is the same and is also by far the snottiest of my kids!

Applesandpears56 · 31/08/2017 21:31

Ah thanks ladies/men you're all reassuring me it's nothing to worry about and normal if not a bit grotty!

Applesandpears56 · 31/08/2017 21:33

DS2 makes loads of wax too, dark brown, which is apparently in the normal range. We call his lugholes his Marmite factories.

Tastesjustlikecherrycola85 · 31/08/2017 21:36

Yep Ds is nearly 2 and is the same

MoonPower · 31/08/2017 21:53

Yep. They will grow out of it. Flannel in the bath in the evening does the job. Don't poke anything in.
