Is this too hot?

4yo with ever so slight cold... temp has been 37 all day. Just went to check on her (window was open) and she was very sweaty. Got her up for a wee, took her temp and gave her some water. Temp was 37.7. She was under the duvet earlier but now she's laid on top of the duvet with a wool blanket over her. Is that temp ok? Should I get up to check throughout the night? I have told her if she wakes up not feeling well to come and get one of us. Should I get her up again for calpol or just take it as she's sleeping she's ok??

That's only a very slight rise in temperature, so I would let her sleep. Have you got a cover for her that's not made of wool? Something cooler would be better.

The only other blankets we have are fleece the blanket she's using is a crocheted blanket though so is quite holey!

37.7 is a very slight temperature and if she's not in pain it's best to let the fever run its course so don't give her calpol. If her temperature gets over 39 then you should start to worry. I would put a sheet over her rather than a blanket.

I would def not have a wool blanket on her!

Not to worry you at all, but how are you taking the temperature? It's just we've had ones from Tesco and Boots and both were reading temperatures too low, when they had high temperatures. They aren't very reliable IME.

I tend to tell the temperature based on how tummy feels or back of neck, and forehead.

Would avoid wool and fleece if you can, anything cotton about?

Any other symptoms?

Just raided the airing cupboard. Got an old cotton cotbed sheet which I've put over her. She's much cooler now since she's come out from the duvet so I've left the wool blanket on her bed so she can get it if she's cold. Windows still open too shall I leave it open all night?

No she's been a bit snotty (not much) and her voice has been a little hoarse so think she's just got a cold coming on. Other than that all day she's been fine in herself, chatty, playful, eaten well etc

That temperature is nothing to worry about, in a hospital (following guidelines) only a fever of above 38 is generally treated. If she's fine in herself I honestly wouldn't worry at all I'd leave the window slightly ajar, if she's cold I'm sure she'll wake up and tell you.

Hopefully just a cold then and her body's fighting the infection and that's the raised temp.

I guess it depends how cold it gets in the night. The room needs to be cool, but not draughty. Ideal is 16-20 apparently. So yes, as furry says, maybe just ajar.

even in the dead of winter!
So i'd leave the window cracked for some fresh air.
Hopefully your DD will sleep well under her sheet :)
