Quick question about doseage

2 year old has a fever, calpol is helping bring it down but not completely. She's had 2 doses already today and I'm about to give a third as it is 101 degrees. If I give her 4 today and she still needs something, can I give nurofen instead? I know I can give both but I don't know whether she can have for example 4 doses of calpol and 4 doses of ibuprofen in 24 hour period. She's just got the temp and keeps saying she doesn't feel well. Hasn't eaten anything today (that won't do her any harm) but drinking plenty and just wants to cuddle on my lap so I'm not concerned yet, just want to make her feel better. Thanks in advance

Ibuprofen works much better at bringing down a temperature in my experience. You can alternate doses of paracetamol and ibuprofen, but I think ibuprofen is only 3 doses per 24 hours (please check the bottle though!).

Great thankyou, I will check the bottle as I can't remember either but suspect you are right about it being 3 doses. Normally calpol works a treat hence why I headed for it first.

When really poorly we have done every two hours (so calpol, nurofen, calpol etc) but yes, nurofen is only three doses in 24 hours.
