Allergic to Spider-Man?

Hi mumsnetters, 3 yr old DS has fallen in love with a Spider-Man costume. Trouble is, she has come up in allergy welts after wearing it on two occasions. Is it possible to be allergic to polyester?
I am also wondering if it could be kiwi, as she ate some for the first time yesterday and came up in the welts shortly after (she was also wearing the suit) DS2 has a kiwi allergy which is why I thought it might be the allergen. Would the kiwi eaten yesterday cause welts today? The welts only came up on her arms and face, again when she was wearing the suit. She also has a cows milk allergy.
Anyone experience this or have any thoughts please?

My son can't wear those costumes, they aggravate his eczema. I'm not sure it's an allergy, I think it's more that his skin is unable to breathe in that material. Hope that helps.

Have you washed it? If not it could be the finishing on it. Chuck it in the wash as a first step.

Hi, thanks for replying,
Yes it's been washed (used to belong to ds2) we only use non bio. She's crying to get in on again, be sad if it wasn't the suit and I had to disappear it. Looked for alternatives but would be surprised to get one that has no nylon in it :(

Is it possible kiwi got onto the costume yesterday and putting it on again today has allowed contact with the allergen, unless you washed it overnight.

Hi hardwork, it was two different costumes, both almost exactly the same. One was playgroups and one our own. We've gone with excluding both things just in case and she has stopped asking for Spider-Man, I might be more sad than she is lol
Thanks for replying ;)
