Free Prescriptions in wales?!!!!

Recently relocated to Wales from England. Didn't really care about the free prescriptions tbh - until we found out what a ballache it actually is. GP refused my chronic migraine meds which I have been having for last 12 years, now he's said DD can't have Aveeno to treat her eczema (Had it back in England for 2 years) offered Cetraben which we had already tried and it didn't work. Told us we could buy Aveeno. You can buy cetraben aswell for the same price so what gives?!! Is he just discriminating against us or is this the way it's going to be here? Just pray to God we don't get really sick or we're moving back to England :(

Aveeno is not available on the NHS as a script AFAIK in England now. This is fairly recent.

Thank you. That's put my mind at ease. Thought he was just being difficult. Don't suppose you know the reasoning for this? Many thanks Smile

It's still available in some areas, but I can see it being withdrawn totally. It's less than £5 on offer, can you not buy it @user?

No idea how you think you're being discriminated against!

I think quite a few things which you can but freely off a supermarket shelf, such as aveeno and paracetamol have recently been taken off the list. They do cost the BHS a fortune.

You can buy cetraben aswell so what's the difference??

It's a good question user and I've no idea.

Confusingly they have now removed aveeno from both my kids prescriptions, but added it as a new prescription for my partner; just a different variety with almond oil (which is more expensive!?)
