Conjunctivitis

Hi everyone,

My 10 month old lady has had what the doctors have called a "red throat" for 3 months now. She is on her 3rd lot of antibiotics and they have said if this doesnt work they will need to do more tests into why its getting no better. She has been flued up for a week now.
This morning the poor little lady has woken up with conjunctivitis. Apart from the obvious cleaning them, what can i do to make her more comfortable? How often should i be cleaning her eyes? Do i need to take her to doctors or can i get something from pharmacy at her age? She hates doctors, cries hysterically until she is sick and absolute nightmare to get in so want to avoid if i can. Thanks everyone x

My son got it around that age and I was told that antibiotics don't actually help it clear up any quicker than cooked boiled water and cotton wool. And getting eye drops in can be a bloody nightmare. He's had it three times since and I just clean them.

Clean as often as needed with cooked boiled water and cotton wool.

Conjunctivitis is likely linked to the sore throat. My daughter often gets mucky eyes if she has a cold/sore throats type thing.

Thank you! The doctor gave us a prescription for eye drops but did say if we wanted we could just give the boiled water a chance. She is already on so many medicines so going to hold off on the eye drops. Like you said, so much hassle and upset trying to get them in. Thanks again for the response x
