Diarrhoea & Vomiting for over 2 weeks!

Ds1 is 7 years old, as a baby he was allergic to eggs and cows milk but he had grown out of it and diary & eggs were reintroduced when he was 3 years old with no problems since.

Just over 2 weeks ago he woke up and vomited, a runny bum followed for 3/4 days - fair enough stomach bug we thought. Then on about day 5 the diarrhoea ramped up and he spent 4/5 days solid suffering including terrible stomach pains. Took him to the docs who said viral and let it pass but check him over and checked urine.

It seemed to ease but was still there and roughly 4 trips per day but the stomach pains relented a little and became more sporadic he also started complaining of fire in his tummy. He had huge swollen glands in his groin. He was still very unwell and we took him to the gp who said they can't do anything until he's had it for 3 weeks and maintained it was viral diahorrea but did say to take gaviscon this was last Thursday.

Then on Saturday he started vomiting again. It was full on and the diahorrea continued along with the horrendous pain.

Yesterday he vomited again and I took him to the urgent care. He's pale, struggling to walk, lost 3 pounds since I weighed him last Thursday so god knows how much overall and when it's at it's worse he is curled up on the floor whimpering in pain. The urgent care said the same he's not sick enough to be admitted to hospital as he's not dehydrated enough and they won't start investigations until it's been 3 weeks (which is this Monday). They did give us a stool sample pot which we've done and handed into the GP this morning.

He's had an ok morning but has just vomited again and the diahorrea is still going strong.

What on earth is going on mumsnet? We've had our fair share of stomach bugs DS2 was hospitalised with the rotavirus but this is like nothing I've experienced. I just don't know where to go from here. Is this viral diahorrea?

If anyone can offer any guidance or reassurance that they've had this go on this long and clear up please shout up as I just don't think it's going to go away and I'm at my wits end with worry. I don't know how he's going to get through the next 5 days and even then what will they do???

Sounds awful. I'm sorry this is happening.

Thank you down.

Had a better day today. Went to see the GP again who sent us to the hospital. Several tests later and no diagnosis but ruled a lot of things out. Looks like it is some kind of infection just waiting on stool samples coming back.

He's been pumped up with fluids and managed to keep some food down and seems much brighter today so I'm feeling more positive.

I hope he gets better. It's just awful when our kids are ill. I'm glad the hospital could do something for him.
