Infant sleeping too much after illness?

DS who is 15 mths old was very poorly a week ago - high temperature, high pulse, ear infection. Been on antibiotics for five days and is much more himself. However, he seems to be sleeping loads and I am not sure whether this is to expected, or a sign things are still wrong and he needs medical care again? He usually sleeps 7pm to 8 am, plus 11-1 daytime. This week he is not waking until 9.30 am and is needing three hours (minimum) of daytime naps. Should we take him back to the docs or is this part of the standard recovery after a very high fever ?

We seem to forever be contacting our GP so would appreciate your experiences/views before we call again. I can be a bit PFB!

If he seems happy in himself when awake and is just sleeping longer at normal times not falling face down in breakfast etc then I think he's probably just still recovering. It can wear them right out, esp if they slept very badly while ill.
Give it a week and if he's not heading back on track ring the GP.

That's fine. Mine always slept loads when they got over a nasty bug. They're just healing and resting. If they're happy and eating don't worry imo

Many thanks - that's reassuring to know. Thanks for replying.
