New to here but thought I would post as it may help others as I searched the web for answers!
In may we took my lg on holiday to Tenerife for a week, I was 32 weeks pregnant too.
Whilst we were there, my lg who's 4 started with a few spots that I thought was a heat rash. This got worse each day and became obvious it was chicken pox... nightmare!!
We were due to fly home on the sat, but knew easyJet's policy was 7 days after the spots had scabbed! Called my travel insurance for advice, they advised to call a doctor to assess her, it was now Thursday and a 120 euros later he certified her as unfit to fly home on the Saturday and to visit him again on Monday.
My "family" travel insurance informed me that they would only cover the child and 1 adult to stay in the country so we would have to pay for the other parent! (They don't tell u that when taking out the policy)
Obviously we both decided to stay anyway.
The insurance called the hotel and booked us 2 extra nights, the hotel then basically quarantined us to our room! We were half board, so me & hubby had to go separately to the restaurant to eat and bring food back for our daughter, towels were dropped off outside our room instead of it being cleaned and obviously we couldn't use the pool. Not the ideal holiday we wanted!
If we had of tried to fly home without informing the insurance or getting a doctors note and had been denied boarding then our insurance wouldn't have covered the trip - just incase anyone is wondering!
We went back the doctors on the monday Andy another 50 euros later we had a certificate that she could fly. The insurance then arranged flights home that night for us, we did get stopped as we were trying to board the plane and asked if my lg had chicken pox, so I was very glad we had the doctors certificate to prove she was ok to fly!
Not the ideal last holiday as a family of 3 but we survived and thought I'd share our experience
