What is this rash?

My 9 month old son had a temperature of 38 on Wednesday and has had pale yellow poos. He had what I thought was an eczema type rash on his trunk, but it is looking a lot worse. No temperature at the moment, but he has been irritable and off of his food. Any thoughts?

My DD (2.5) had a rash like this and had the same symptoms you describe, I took her to see a GP and they said it was just some viral infection. It goes away when pressed with a glass, doesn't it?

I think its a viral rash. If it blanches and he is otherwise improving i think a&e would be totally inappropriate. However if you're worried call ooh for advice /reassurance x

Thank you - just wanted some reassurance that it wasn't something more serious.

In my DD's case it only lasted a couple of days and she was fine, paracetamol and plenty to drink really help. If you're still worried may I suggest ringing NHS Direct rather than going to A&E
