Head lice - quick question

sweetfig · 09/06/2017 18:52

Head lice is rife in my dd's primary school, as I expect it probably is in most primaries :(.
Exactly what are the white blobs that are left attached to her hair? Are they live eggs or dead ones that have hatched?
Whatever they are they look horrendous and don't come out with my nitty gritty. How can I remove them?

Thank you, I need to try harder to remove them but dd is so impatient and hates me doing anything with her hair!

I found everything came off with the nitty gritty. I wonder why its not working for you, because if you cant get them off, i doubt youve got all the nits out

My advice , for what it's worth, based on many years of nits coming into our lives, is to comb regularly with conditioner and fine comb of your choice. If you do it weekly DD will just get used to it as a routine and you will hopefully catch any infestations early. If you find nit/ egg go to an alternate day regime and make sure all family members are combing until a few days clear!!
Head lice are incredibly infuriating for essentially harmless little beasts. ... they used to drive me mad. Only one of my 3 DC was particularly attractive to them and needless to say this was my DD. The boys each had them once or twice but DD was regularly bringing them home.
I blame girls general behaviour i.e. Draping themselves over their friends, children with long hair not tied back for school and of course some parents lack of vigilance / treatment..
