Lumps behind toddlers ears...

I noticed last night while stroking DD's head to get her back to sleep that these is a great big, hard, longish feeling lump directly behind her right ear, you can see it but it's not red or causing her any pain (she slept through me poking it) it's quite warm to the touch. I checked the other ear and there was nothing there but this morning there is one there too, it's much smaller but certainly there behind the other ear.

Is it glands? She's not been unwell, she's 2.

You can feel one of mine more than the other...it's always been there. I think it's a lymph node. If you're worried though then the best thing is to see the GP..only to set your mind at rest.

My left one is always "feelable" and has been since I was a kid. If she's fine in herself then it won't be anything.

I worried myself sick for months when I found a lump behind my DS's ear at around six months. Went to three different doctors over next year and last one explained that as long as they are smooth feeling then they are ok. If the child is also well in themselves then all ok.

I think it's glands. Even if they are not unwell but have glands up it could mean some sort of infection brewing. Sometimes it just stops at the glands and child doesn't become sick at all. I've had 4 dc and they've all had glands behind their ears. But I would still go to GP to check it out for your own peace of mind.

I found these on my DS's head. Because of family history I panicked to the point of almost vomiting (away from DC of course)

I googled and discovered these lymph nodes tend to get enlarged if there is any sort of infection on the scalp or face.
DS had a whacking great cyst on his head a the time.
