New molar age 6?

My DS is complaining about pain in the back of his gums behind the molar. He has 6 teeth in each quarter so 24. There looks like broken skin and possible new tooth coming in the gap after his 6th upper tooth. Could this be the replacement 1st molar coming in wrong place? He has only lost 1 baby tooth so far - middle front bottom. Plus the one next to that is loose. He says it is a sharp stinging pain, not an ache.
Thanks

They normally start getting their first adult molars around age 6. Are you sure he already has 24 teeth?

Thanks dementedpixie. Yes def 24. Counted them Smile
It's just there isn't room as the baby ones are still there.
