Sounds like shingles if they are localised in one area

Not likely to be shingles if the person in question hasent had chickenpox before.

Which area is it? Hand foot and mouth can sometimes look like chickenpox.

Diarrhea isn't a usual symptom. ime, The high fever only comes with kids who are plastered with spots and after the CP has been there at least 2 days, not on day 1 with barely any spots.

But you can have had chicken pox without realising it if it was a very mild case

Yes you can have just a few spots - particularly in very young who,retain some maternal immunity. Some children get more of a fever - and it is generally hot anyway. Some get diarrhoea but they can also,get a tummy bug alongside a chicken pox.
