head shaking/tic, what is it?

My DS is 11 and all of a sudden has started a sort of head shake, or tic, or shudder. It happens about every 30 seconds and he is not aware he is doing it. Aside from that, everything is fine.
Any idea what it could be? Anyone with anything similar?

Take him to see the GP and see if you can get one of the episodes on video. It could be a tic or it could be a mild sort of epileptic seizure. I dont mean to scare you of course but juvenile myclonic seizures can come on at about this age.

Has he had tics, habits before? V common in boys I think..
Agree with taking to go esp if it hadn't happened before.

Thanks for the replies. No, nothing before. Today it is much less pronounced, but I will take him to the GP if either it doesn't go away completely or if it gets worse.

I am normally quite chilled, but this kind of thing makes me really anxious :(
