I have googled it but I thought that there would be lots of spots straight away, my 21 month old had 10 spots yesterday spread from neck to body today another new 6 larger blisters.

1 neck

5 tummy

3 back

And one on leg

Is this what happens or is this a mild case. Do the spots get worse as the days go on?

They may do, or they may not! No way of knowing without just waiting to see I'm afraid. My DS had a grand total of about 10 spots and that was it. My DD was fairly covered but still a mild case I'd say as they all came out at once. One child at school had spots keep coming out for over a week. Who knows?!

Dd has just got over them. She had 2 the first day, 4 the next, 8 by the third day and by day 4 she had about 60!

It can take a few days for all the spots to come out, but if it is a mild case that may be all you're getting.

When DD had it at about 7 months, she only had a dozen or so spots in total, and got over it pretty quickly. When I had it at age 21, I had spots from my scalp to the soles of my feet, which emerged over several days, and I was seriously ill for two weeks. Hope your DC's is the mild kind!

Hopefully yours is mild. They keep popping up for a few days. You could take some pictures to keep track of them cause they are still infectious till the last one has scabbed over.

The first time it comes into the house is milder (hence the chicken pox parties - that and the excruciatingly long incubation period).
First to get it in my house got a small cluster of spots around lower belly, a week off school while feeling chipper, then kindly passed it to both sibs who were covered head to toe and miserable. Had it in their mouths, up their bums and all sorts.

What the heck is a chicken pox party.
