5 year old and spotty face

Hi, I think I might have posted about this before.

My 5 year old boy has spots on his face, spots that you would more often see in teenagers and adults.

They come and go, he's woke up with a bright red one without a head on one cheek and another small one on the other cheek.

I've been using a mild face wash but nothing's changing, MIL says it's fine and normal but I don't see any other kids with spots at this age. Is it normal?

He sees a paediatrician for an unrelated condition in three weeks so I'm going to ask them too, but in meantime I'm just curious if spotty face kids are the norm?

Hi, are they proper 'teenage' type spots or could they be keratosis pilaris? Sort of hard red bumps which can have a white top, but if you leave them they dry up? They can look like a red rash of bumps on cheeks. If so, then it can be treated with any cream with urea in - Eucerin do loads of these. Or heel balm. Don't think it's supposed to be used on broken or very sore skin though.

Hi LatinForTelly, thank you for replying to me. I googled the skin condition you mentioned and it's not like that (though I recognise it from my husbands arms!)

These are very much pimples, he has very pale skin and has big red spots. They tend to appear on his cheeks.

Feel very sorry for him as I'm in my 30s and still with a face full of spots, it's lies they go away after puberty lol

Oh, sorry, I don't know then. It'd be worth asking the paediatrician, definitely. I don't suppose he's got any other signs of early adrenarche such as body odour? If so, it would definitely be worth mentioning that to his doctor. I hope someone comes along who is a bit more helpful!
