Is this normal?

Hi,
Last week I noticed a small bump on the left of my dd's forehead (she's three). It is more visible when she frowns or raises her eyebrows and the lump/ bump cannot be felt only seen. It is about an inch above her left eyebrow. She hasn't banged her head.

I took her to the GP yesterday who said it is 100 percent normal and that there is no lump there. She said it is part of the contouring on her forehead.

My dd has a fringe so I am not sure whether this has always been there or something new. At the moment I am looking at it all the time and can't help worrying that this isn't normal.

I do suffer from health anxiety.

Can anyone let me know if your children have any odd lumps or bumps on their foreheads as I am really worried.

The GP said there is 100 percent no lump there (even though she could see what I was referring to)

Id trust the word of a GP over people online who cant even see it. Believe them :)

I am just wondering if any one else has noticed any forehead bumps on their children. As you can tell, I am a worrier! X

Humans do have orbital ridges :)

When my daughter was about five, I used to think she had a bump on her forehead. It just seemed to be on the right side and there was nothing to feel. Eventually I came to the conclusion that it was shadow cast by a very slight curve to her forehead, but I worried about it for a long time. I haven't noticed it now for ages so I suppose her forehead must have grown flatter (she's seven now). I must check after school!

If you're concerned, try taking a photo of it in a situation where it's particularly noticeable (eg with her standing under an overhead light). Do the same in a month, in the same situation, and compare. Probably it will be exactly the same, but you will have an objective record and if the bump gets bigger you can show the photos to the GP.

Yes my daughter's is also more noticeable under the light or during certain angles. I have even tried looking back at old photos of her and in some I think I may be able to see it and in others, nothing.

Interesting what you said about your daughters no longer being there or not as noticeable and the GP said yesterday that it may well be a new bump, but that is ok too, as their foreheads change as they grow etc.

She also said if it was an actual lump you wokuld feel it and it's 100 percent just the shape of her head.

You know what it's like - once you notice something, it becomes more obvious to the eye as you're looking out for it. She has had a fringe since the age of about 18 months and until now I haven't paid too much attention to the shape of her forehead. Now it is all I am looking at!
