Ingrowing eyelash?

DD has a bump on her eyelid which developed a couple of months ago. I'm pretty sure it's an ingrowing eyelash - I think I can see the black lash inside, and it doesn't look swollen or infected like a stye. It's not bothering her but it can't stay there forever obviously or risk getting infected.

Has anyone's child had this and what happened? I've been reading about the possible treatments but they don't sound very suitable for a 4 year old (all involve sitting very still while someone uses surgical instruments on your eyelid!!)

Will take her to the GP of course but long wait for non urgent appts so thought I'd ask here in the meantime.

@Minipie can I ask what happened in the end up? I have a four year old who has had a recurrent ingrown eyelash. Been to doctor twice and caredoc twice over it in two and half years. Latest was yesterday. Doctors advice all along has been to pluck it with sterile tweezers ourselves but the eye is infected even tho eyelash was plucked out. He's impossible to get eye ointment into his eyes and he's also on a liquid antibiotic because of his reluctance to putting anything in his eye. We are Goin to have to go back to doctor and try get a referral to eye specialist as this situation is getting impossible. She suggested the plucking as the alternative would be surgery possibly and it's very invasive for a small person. I am tearing my hair out with worry and looking at him in so much discomfort the past two days is breaking my heart. Was wondering if you got any info on what the alternatives are for removal etc?

Anyway nothing too helpful to report sorry. I went to the GP and she recommended getting eye wipe from the pharmacy and wiping it every day to try to break up the lump. I never got round to it tbh . A few weeks after I posted the lump got a bit bigger and redder and I used a hot compress on it (ie held a hot damp flannel against it for about 5-10 minutes) every day for a week or so. It got big and pus filled and then burst and went scabby. Scab healed and the lump has gone and hasn't come back... so far. I'm not sure if it was an ingrowing eyelash now or just a lump.

So sorry your DC is having such a problem and hope you have found a solution in the meantime. IPL, electrolysis or laser jump to mind to remove the lash permanently but I have no idea if they can be used ithe eye area or on a four year old...
