Worms?

3yo DS needed the loo as we were waiting to pick up his sister from school. He only went around 40 mins before this. He is only a slight little thing but it never ceases to amaze me the amount he passes. So I was shocked he needed to go with such urgency so shortly after going. Again he pooed a lot (sorry!)

After flushing, I noticed bits floating about so took a closer look. Sunk to the bottom I could see very thin (threadlike), just over a cm long, maybe 3 of them? However there were a few other bits floating about with it too.

I'm really sorry for the graphic description but I have no experience with worms.

I can't see anything on inspection, but when asked DD (5) said her bum had been itching a bit when in bed.

What do I do? Does this sound like worms or could it just be undigested bits of food? He does eat a lot of oranges etc.

Well it's not pleasant but when they're itching at nights grab a torch and have a look! They generally come out at night so you'll see them if it's worms......

If it is off to the chemist for worm treatment for everyone then hot wash for all towels/sheets and bleach the entire house (ok maybe last one is an exaggeration but it's what I did!!!)

I'm sure I've tempted fate as I've always said the parenting highlights I'm dreading are nits and worms.

We had the nits this weekend.

worms are actually easy to deal with though

one dose of medicine - everyone in the family must take it whether or not they think they have them. Then hot wash all bedding and towels and antibac all door handles.

Couple of days later they'll be gone.
