hi there,I took my daughter to GP a week ago for slight temperature, cold and chesty cough. GP asked has she allergic to any antibiotic and prescribed erythromycin. GP told us come back in three days. When we visit today, there was another GP and asked is she was allergic to benylin and when I said no, he said if they are allergic to benylin only they prescribe antibiotics. I know antibiotics are for bacterial infection, but how do we know whether it was bacterial or virus infection? I heard its not good practice to take antibiotics than cure on its own.
