How long would you let a 12 year old sleep?

Ds is off school with nasty cold/cough. He went to bed about 10:30 last night with vick all over his chest as he was bunged up. He is still asleep. I opened the door at about 8 and he stirred- heard him move. He is still asleep.

Should I wake him as really he should drink something, but once awake he finds it hard to sleep in the day, so if he needs sleep perhaps I should leave him a bit longer.

Leave him. He didn't go to bed until 10.30!

I thought you were going to say he went to bed at 6pm or something but he went to bed quite late, I have more sleep than him sometimes when I'm not ill. And he is 12, let him sleep as long as his body needs if he is poorly.

Ok thanks, I was just a bit worried about him becoming de-hydrated. I will leave him a bit longer.

He's up. Thank you. Coughing like a good in. Apparently he woke up in night all bunged up and sat up for a bit which explains the long sleep this morning
