Threadworms

My two DC have threadworms. Treated them on Tuesday with Ovex and number of worms reduced, last night none when I checked but tonight there are a few again. Can I give them more Ovex or is the first dose still working? We've been washing bed clothes, towels etc daily and constantly reminding them re washing hands. The horrible little worms make me feel gross! Thanks.

Did you treat everyone, including yourself? Ovex takes a few days to work so you may see some in the meantime

Yes all of us took the tablets and we cleaned everything and are still washing like mad.

My children had them last year and I was told the treatment can take a few days to work.

I was under the impression that the medicine kills them and then you poo them out dead (sorry). But after treating my daughter last year, there were live worms around her bottom for a few days. It does depend on how severe the case is. My daughter had them mildly and I only seen four worms in total (three after treatment) They may take longer in a more severe care cases.

You're meant to re-treat after two weeks as you probably already know. Just keep up with the good hygiene - they will go.

My son had them more severely than my daughter. They were more easily monitored in my daughter as she was in nappies at the time. No sign of them again for over a year here!

Good luck!

Thank you. Spoke to the pharmacist tonight and gave them another dose as they were still live 4 days after treatment. Fingers crossed they die now!
