Ds had this earlier in the year, with a couple of nights of absolutely sobbing with pain. We'd been to out of hours GP, who confirmed it wasn't appendicitis. Then the normal GP the next day when calpol didn't touch the pain. He gave the diagnosis but said that other than over the counter painkillers (calpol and ibuprofen) there wasn't much else to do. It was horrible for him, had maybe two absolutely horrendous nights and I think lasted 5 days in all.

Hi, yes my little boy had it.
It was a disaster as it looks very much like appendicitis or possibly constipation, so after being shuttled in the back of an ambulance to Alder Hey then mismanaged because there was only 2 drs on overnight, both scrubbed in theatre, ds couldn't have the recommended calpol & brufen oh and the fluids for 17 hours because there was no one to prescribe them...and absolutely no, he could not have any of the calpol and brufen I had in my bag because it needed to be prescribed, so I had to sit and watch my 2 year old crying, writhing and sobbing until someone was available..
All to be told...it's viral, it needs plenty of fluids and pain killers!!!!!!

Horrific.

So now I know what it is and how to treat it, I won't be going anywhere near a hospital with him again!

Lasted about 3 days, got better with each passing hour, by day 3, he made me look like I was fibbing because he was completely back to his normal self.
