Vicks Vapour Rub on DD's feet

My DD (aged 10) has flu :( - quite apart from the high temperature, headache etc (for which she has been prescribed antibiotics), she has a hacking cough.

A friend has suggested the Vicks Vapour Rub trick. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? After a week of nobody in the house getting any sleep because she coughs so much at night, I'm willing to give it a go.

It's worked for us, worth a go I'd say

Worked for us too

Works for us, I do it when I'm sick as well.

It most definitely works, google Vicks on feet!
Put nice layer on feet then cover with some old socks

Yep works here, use old socks, I've found it clings to the socks even when they've been washed several times Hmm

I did this the other day when I was coughing up internal organs. The cough was definitely easier and not of the hacking variety once the Vicks was on. As soon as I'd had a shower etc the cough came back.

Thank you everyone. I shall try it tonight. Good tip about the old socks too.

Does anyone know why it actually works, or is it one of those things, like gaffer tape on verrucas, that just does?
