Just had a very sleepy DS walk in to ask if his eye was okay. Its not-puffy eyelid so eye is slightly closed, sticky gunk, weeping, pink and definitely noticeably different from the other eye. Im assuming this is Conjunctivitis so have wiped it with warm water and gauze, new gauze for each wipe and have covered it so he doesnt touch it in his sleep. Have also given him some anti histemine incase its caused by an allergy. Not really sure what else to do. Will he need a doctors appointment? Can he still go to school tomorrow?

It's highly contagious so unless it has completely cleared by morning the school
won't want him. Your GP will prescribe ointment which will clear it up and in the meantime, keep towels separate and I still good hand hygiene. Occasionally it can be something different, my friend got an eye infection from her dog but that cleared eventually. If it were allergy it would be more likely to be both eyes.
