When can I give more calpol?

4 times in 24 hours but no less than 4 hours between doses right? He (DS 20 months) had a dose at 12:30 and 5:30. When can I give him the next one? He's really upset and can't sleep, can I give him one at 10:00 and then one in the morning around 7? I know this seems daft but I don't want to overdose him and I haven't had much sleep in the last few days.

He has seen a dr today and is on antibiotics for a chest infection. On top of four teeth breaking through.

Do you have any nurophen? He can have that every 8 hours and calpol every 6 hours so you can work out a schedule that will keep him well dosed up. But if you don't have nurophen then calpol at 10 will be fine and more at 7. But buy some nurophen in the morning!

Yes. But then you'd have to wait until after 1230 for dose 5, even though that would vr longer than 4 hours. You can do three doses of nurifen in 24 hours as well

Can't you stagger it with nurofen?
In any case you could give him it at those times.
If you can I'd get nurofen too. You can give calpol/paracetamol every 4 hours and ibuprofen/nurofen every 6 hours but if you alternate then it helps when they are really poorly.
Speak to a pharmacist if you are unsure.
Hope he's feeling better soon, nothing worse when they are ill.

You can give ibuprofen if the calpol isn't working for the full time between doses. It has fewer doses in 24 hours so don't get it mixed up with the calpol dosage. I used to do calpol then if they were still bothered would give them nurofen 2 hours later and then calpol again 2 hours later if required

No nurofen unfortunately. Calpol has always been enough so I never thought to have it in the house (lesson learned). I will give at ten and seven and get some nurofen as soon as the shops open in the morning. Thank you everyone.
