I have a little boy, he was premature so although he is 15 months old in reality he is just under a year (from due date ).

He's been under the weather for the past few weeks, had a virus and an infection he needed antibiotics for. He's seemed much better but this afternoon at nursery he's just slept most of the time. He's pretty much slept since he got home too.

He's not a great eater but hasn't been eating/drinking milk very much while at nursery (he's been there 3 weeks).

My oh thinks he's just fighting infection and will be fine. I'm not so sure but don't feel that I have enough reason to call 111/ooh GP.

Any thoughts?

Call them, better safe than sorry.

Can you rouse him? Has he been alert when awake?

Avebury · 01/12/2016 22:25

Check for signs of dehydration - always better to be safe than sorry with sick little ones so definitely worth getting him checked out

Thanks all. He woke up last night and seemed slightly better, but was very drowsy this morning so we're at gps now

So the GP gave us different antibiotics on Friday, but he's still the same.
He's also now had 4 explosive nappies today.

I'll be making an appointment tmw morning, or do you think he should go to ooh tonight?

Be safe, give OOH a call and discuss.

We have Disabled DS who is non verbal aged 7 but functions just 18-24. He was really sleepy recently and no one would listen ... Finally when they did he had a hideous bacterial infection in his ear and didn't 2 weeks in hospital... Trust your mum radar!

Thank you! Bizarrely almost as soon as I'd posted he perked up and has been full of life (this is what he did after my OP too).
Definitely trip to GP tmw morning (& a careful eye on him tonight).
