My son is overweight what to do?

My son is 12 years old and is overweight he is 163cm tall and approximately 70kg. I a, not sure how overweight he is to me he just looks quite chubby he has rolls of fat and some boobs this is what worries me most but I try to cook healthy . I am worried about him and not sure exactly what to do any help.

He is overweight because he is consuming too many calories. Look on the NHS healthy eating website or if you join slimming world then he can go too.

Does he do any sports or anything like that? That does seem a lot. My dd was 30kg when she was 12.

Hi Bob. My son had weight problems when he was that age and getting him exercising really made the difference. He discovered a love of cycling, so I made sure we went on rides together most days - complete PITA to start with but I actually started enjoying it after a while! I also changed what was in the cupboards, so he couldn't reach for unhealthy snacks, cooked from scratch and added loads of veg into spag bols and stews, fruit pudding etc. There were a few complaints to start with, but he soon just got on with it. I just down played the changes that I had made, for example "why aren't there any crisps?" , "I bought those grapes instead. They looked really nice in the shop". I really wouldn't go down the slimming world route as I think it puts too much emphasis on the problem and you'd be much better running round in the park with him having fun that sitting in a SW meeting.
