My DD, 5, has been under the weather with a cold but fine to go to school. This evening she had stomach ache after dinner and then one bout of diarrhoea. She seems fine at the mo, a little tired.

Do u need to follow 48hr rule to keep off school or wait and see how she is throughout night and in morning. What would you do?!

Ahhh it infuriates me when people say this.

The rule is 24 / 48 hours from last bout. It doesn't matter if that was the first or tenth bout, she was still unwell. So therefore you do not send her in, you also do not go swimming are to soft play! It drives me mad that people think it's ok to spread infection and disease because it makes their lives easier.

Keep her off. It doesn't matter what you would normally do if you won't do it this time. Your daughter could make someone like my son very sick.
I hope she is feeling better soon and it really is a one off bout.
