How to treat DSs thumb

DS 3yrs old has been chewing his thumb a bit recently, yesterday we noticed him picking at the skin. This morning it looks like this, it is not wet or gooey, is savalon and a plaster ok or does it need to be seen by the out of hours doctor?

My DS does this too, I popped him to GP and he has had antibiotics more than once. I keep a close eye on his hands now and if I see anything coming up we pop some inadine and a dressing on it.

It looks very sore and red, maybe pop along to pharmacist today and get him seen with practice nurse/gp on Monday morning?
