Chicken pox tips please?

My 22 month old seems to have chicken pox the rash has flared up pretty fast after what I had assumed was a spot of nappy rash has spread to all over and started to blister.

I have a 6 month old in the house too, is it pretty much a certainty that she'll get it too? And can you all give me some tips for keeping her comfortable?

Ive given calpol already and know that ibuprofen is a big no, what creams work for itchiness and should baths be cool? Thanks in advance.

I mixed calamine lotion with aqueous cream and used a clean blusher brush to paint it all over DS when he had it. Piriton and Calpol as needed and also cool/lukewarm baths with bicarbonate of soda to take the itch out of it. DS had a horrendous case, I'm dreading the wee ones getting it!

Bicarbonate of soda baths x 3 times a day worked wonders for us. Also keeping poxcilin and virasoothe in the fridge and applying it liberally. The coldness of it seemed to help with the itching. Piriton didn't work for us as it made DD hyper but some people swear by it.
We had a bad dose in our house and days 4-5 were the worst for us with a very itchy, tired and grumpy DD. Good luck!

Virasoothe is a new cream/lotion and works miracles. So much better than calamine. It's expensive but really worked for us-pit it on and itching stopped for several hours. No mess.

Oats in tights, wrap the tights around bath tap spout so the water runs through it. Incredibly soothing for the kids. Absolute god send. Virasoothe was also good. Good luck.

Poxclin and/or Virasoothe are brilliant - non-messy, easy to apply and seemed to keep DS comfortable when he had it recently. We also did oatmilk baths using the oats in muslin trick - it's also really nice to squeeze the 'cream' out of the damp oaty muslin and apply it in the bath like a lotion - DS really loved this. We had baths three times a day for the worst few days.

Cheekily tacking on my own question - DS has a couple of scars on his face where he scratched, can anything be done to minimise them. They are little indentations in the skin which are currently purple-red.
