Is it normal when hormones are changing and growing through a growth spurt to lose a lot of hair?

My dd first shouted me on hols a few week ago in shower saying she was covered in hair and she was all over her hands and back and when I brushed it the brush was full!!
The only thing other than growth I can think of I'm doing different is she's been using a nit shampoo as her little Sis had them until last week
