Flying with glue ear

My son has glue ear and we are due to fly on holiday in a few days.. Any tips? Will it be painful for him (god i hope not)

Has he had grommets?

My dd did find it painful so I took calpol sachets to give her on the flight and also sweets to suck on which helped a bit. It wasn't too bad, the take off was the worse bit.

No had grommits yet but its on the cards...
