Apologies for the choice of topic, but I'm now doubting myself so I need some advice, please. My 10 month old has been having loose stools for weeks now. Maybe 4-5 weeks. She has a bowel movement maybe 2-3 times a day, every day.

It started when she had a virus and conjunctivitis - at that point it was diarrhoea, very watery. I mentioned it to the doctor who brushed it off, and was very unconcerned. The GP said it was a side effect of the virus.

She then had her top two teeth popping through so that was another reason why her nappies were still so disgusting. She's totally better now but her bowel movements are still very, very loose.

She is in no discomfort at all. No signs of stomach ache or grumpiness. Nothing.

Should I take her back to the GP. I think yes, but the GP I saw was so unconcerned I wonder if I am over reacting.

For what it's worth, she's on a morning bottle, an evening bottle and three solid meals a day. Her nappies are bad whatever she eats.

Thanks in advance!

Hi

You can get secondary lactose intolerance after an infection. It is normally temporary and goes away after a few weeks. You can reduce lactose and see if that helps. Lactose intolerance would cause diarrhoea.

Just a thought.

Oh, that's interesting. Thanks, I'll go and have a read about it.
