Cradle cap - any tips

Both my DD's have suffered with cradle cap and with DD1 I found Dentinox cradle cap shampoo to be quite effective, however, I can't seem to find it in any of the shops.
I've found some on Amazon but before I order it I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to clear it up or anything that works as well as (or better) than Dentinox?

I picked it off. Gently and gradually as they slept in my arms. And once the scales are gone, they don't return.

I know you're meant to leave it alone. And DS only had a tiny little bit. But my gran said she used to use olive oil and gently brush it through with a soft bristled brush to lift it. I tried it with the brush I got in a tommee tippee grooming kit. And it really worked.
But remember - I started off my post by saying you're meant to leave it . . .

Slather in coconut oil. Leave for a few hours or overnight if possible. Comb out in bath. Got rid of DSs in one go and hasn't come back.

Ohido this Nana is with your Gran. We used the softest baby toothbrush with oil (olive or baby oil) and gently massaged it before hair washing then it would float off. No harm in leaving it either as long as it isn't making the baby itchy.

DS3 was covered in it. I found putting some baby oil on his head, leaving it for ten minutes and then gently running a nit comb (yeah I know but you'll need it once they get to school age ) through itwas really effective in lifting some of the scales.

Olive oil.

Dentinox shampoo (in the baby aisle) is really, really good. It is for cradle cap but My husband uses it to shift his dandruff.

Olive oil before bed, then shampoo off the next day.

I'll second coconut oil. It's miraculous when nothing else works. Also smells better than olive oil.

I used coconut oil for babies from waitrose. You get it on amazon.

I second the nit comb, washed ds hair then used the nit comb, worked a treat!

Aah this thread is making me reminisce about picking softened cradle cap off. . Happy days they were.

Another coconut oil vote here, and cheapo stuff works just as well as waitrose stuff

I've never heard of leaving it alone.....

Spent ages messing around with olive oil, etc with ds1, but in the end it was only dentinox that got rid of it so I would just go for that.

I used a cradle cap brush alongside dentinox for ds2 and that got rid of it all within a few washes. You can get the brush on amazon. I think the make was Pourty.

Picking at the scales can lead to infection. And they can come back after you've picked them off .

Slather the head with that very light olive oil you get in chemists at bedtime. Comb it off in the morning with a nit comb. DH made himself late for work doing this, it was that satisfying.

Coconut oil and sponge rub off in the bath.

Another vote for the nit comb! I rubbed a small amount of olive oil in, left it overnight, then it combed out easily the next morning.

It was surprisingly satisfying and enjoyable!

This was me last week! Dentinox is sold in Asda but it just never worked on my ds and has suffered with it his whole life (now 4). I was determined him not to start school with it so I Googled some ideas. If I picked it off his hair come out with it and he said it hurt so I followed the olive oil advice. Washed his hair as normal then massaged a small amount of olive oil in his head before bed then the next morning used a nit comb to remove it. It worked a treat his hair needed a few days to not be greasy anymore but it was lovely and shiny when done good luck op.

Pick it off!! Gently though of course. I was super lucky and DS's came back so ingot to pick it off twice. Heaven.

The best cure I found was hedrin once! I had to treat my 2 for headlice and an unexpected perk was that it lifted all of the cradle cap clean away!

Thanks everyone for all the replies! I almost bought some coconut oil earlier (it was with the cooking oils in Aldi!) but put it back! When DD1 had huge chunks (that I picked) her hair would come out with it so I wanted to nip DD2's in the bud before it got worse. I've looked for Dentinox in Boots, Superdrug, Tesco's and Asda and it wasn't in any of them! Maybe there's a shortage DD1's took quite some getting rid of so I'm going on Amazon now to order coconut oil and Dentinox.

Its in the baby aisle with bubble bath & talc etc.in case you were looking for it in the regular shampoo aisle.

Yes I've looked in the baby aisles every time and it's definitely not there.
