Just that really noticed some dark scaly looking patch on DS head. Doesn't seem to feel scaly. Or is it a dandruff?

My husband had it at 13! (He wasn't my husband at 13 in case you were wondering...)

Not too old at all. I've nannied for plenty of children that age and would say it's pretty common for it to appear at that age.

OiWithThePoodlesAlready · 12/07/2016 22:45

Not at all. My dd1 had it quite badly until she was about 4! She has ridiculously thick hair which seemed to make it impossible to shift. She is 6 now and the other day I found a small patch at the front of her head.

nennyrainbow · 12/07/2016 22:45

My daughter is nearly 2 1/2 and she has it too! Seems to be build up when I haven't washed her hair for a while ( she hates hair washing and screams all the way through so I tend to leave it as long as possible between washes).

The best thing I found for getting rid of it was plenty of olive oil rubbed all over her scalp then going over it with a nit comb a couple of hours later. It's very satisfying!

Never too late for cradle cap. Ds appears to have moved seamlessly from cradle cap to dandruff.

TheUnsullied · 12/07/2016 22:55

DD is about the same age and still has it.

rjet1245 · 12/07/2016 22:59

My daughter has had it since being a baby, on and off. She's 13 now.

Hastalapasta · 12/07/2016 23:05

My 6 year old has it. Do not worry. My GP once said no adult had ever been to see him for cradle cap Grin

WLmum · 12/07/2016 23:05

Dd1 had tons of it as a baby and still has the odd patch now - she's 9. You can't see it but sometimes I feel it whine I'm brushing or fiddling with her hair

flutterby77 · 13/07/2016 13:07

My son has it at nearly two, it's gradually flaking away now and seems to be disappearing.
