DS is 18 months old and has had a fever since Sat evening. Been treating it every 4 hours by alternating Nurofen and Calpol. It works for a few hours then it spikes again. His nappies are wet and he has been drinking some water. Not off his food and is generally fine in himself. Not sure what else to do now?

I would probably take him to gp if he still has temp in the morning... 40 is high and it could be something like an ear infection which the gp will be able to see.
It's good he seems himself but it will put your mind at rest if nothing else.

Try skin to skin as a natural way to regulate his temperature - your body will radiate heat away -

If you've not got a clear space for his temp being so high, might be worth seeing the gp so they can look in his throat, ears etc. Might also be worth getting a urine sample incase they can't find what's causing the temps and want to rule out a uti. The temp in itself isn't a problem and it sounds like you're doing everything you should be, but it's always important to know the source of a temp.
