Does anyone remember my little Blue-eyed Joseph? Bad news and I could use some support, please.

My 6 year old, Joseph, was diagnosed with stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma cancer when he was 3. He had 14 months off treatment and then had no evidence of disease for 2.5 years. We were starting to imagine a future for us all and make plans.

We found out a fortnight ago that he has relapsed. 5 year survival rates from here are less than 5%. Possibly even less than 1%, I can't remember. Chemo starts tomorrow, I am struggling to understand how this has happened to us again (because there is no reason) and how on earth we are going to make it through this. I know it's by taking a minute at a time, but it feels so huge right now.

God, you poor loves. I've thought of you all often and I'm so sorry to hear your update. Hoping for something miraculous at GOSH x.

QODRestYeMerryGentlemen · 03/01/2017 16:44

In my thoughts Trazzletoes 💐

incogKNEEto · 03/01/2017 16:59

Thinking of you all, so sorry to read your update, and will be hoping for a miracle at GOSH for you x

Trazzletoes · 03/01/2017 17:36

Thank you all.

Unborn it's fine with me. I'm not a Christian (anymore) but if people have any truck with God, I'll take whatever we can get x

I'm quite lapsed myself these days even so miracles do happen and I do hope you and Joseph get one Flowers

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 03/01/2017 18:46

I wish I knew what to say but I'm so useless with words, J has been on my mind a lot today. Is there anything we can do to help or that you need? Flowers

barefootcook · 03/01/2017 19:18

Thank you for the update Trazzles and so sorry to hear about the latest results. I will pray for Joseph too. You said that he is good in himself. Is he able to go to school or is that too much?

Powergower · 03/01/2017 19:24

Thinking of you all and praying for a miracle. I've followed your story from the start. Is there anything we can do to help?

pishedoff · 03/01/2017 19:57

Got everything crossed for you and your family xx

FrameyMcFrame · 03/01/2017 20:15

Sending love and best wishes to you.

BarbarianMum · 03/01/2017 21:13

So very sorry that Joseph's latest round of treatment hasn't brought better news. Flowers I don't really have a working relationship with God but I have known medical science to pull something out of the hat at times, so I will light lots of candles and hope this is one of them. x

UnbornMortificado · 03/01/2017 21:35

Sorry Trazzle of course if there is anything more practical you need help with fundraising etc please just say.

bumbleymummy · 04/01/2017 11:11

So sorry to hear your update Trazzles. I hope the trial goes well. Thanks

Trazzletoes · 10/01/2017 20:36

Oof I thought I'd posted earlier!

Still no news on exactly when we are heading for London.

Joseph started his oral chemo last week. His blood counts had recovered brilliantly after finishing the clinical trial and were practically at normal levels. This new chemo will knock them down a bit but not too drastically I think - we will see. He has his first blood test tomorrow.

He's absolutely fine. He goes to school quite happily and unless you knew what was going on under his skin, you'd think he was a normal child, albeit a bit more tired than most.

Trazzletoes · 10/01/2017 20:38

And thanks, but no practical help is necessary. We aren't fundraising. Just... if you can, please give blood. Thanks.

OP posts:
Milliways · 11/01/2017 17:59

Thanks for the update, hope the blood test was stress free today and that the results are positive Flowers

Trazzletoes · 11/01/2017 19:11

Thanks. Blood test went fine. We should get the results tomorrow. I'm quite interested to see whether the chemo is having any effect on his blood counts yet. Chemo takes a few days to work so I'm not expecting much in the way of changes.

Struggling w depression today so I'm off to hide under a blanket.

On a practical note again, how well do you know London?

Have a think about whether there is anything London-based MNers could do to ease your stay.

BathshebaDarkstone · 11/01/2017 19:31

It's so tough. My 26 yo DS has been discharged for 3 days, back in hospital on Friday for more chemotherapy. Does Joseph understand what's happening to him?

BathshebaDarkstone · 11/01/2017 19:36

I'm in London.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 11/01/2017 19:41

I'm sorry to hear that there isn't a better outcome form Joseph's treatment Trazzle you've all been through so muchThanks

I wish you all well with the GOSH trials.

pishedoff · 11/01/2017 19:59

Still thinking of you trazzles

Chemo is shite, with a cherry on the top

Ratbagcatbag · 11/01/2017 20:18

Just another one checking in trazzles. I remember your first thread.

I'm so so sorry it's not good news for you all. It's so unfair. :(

I'll light a candle on Sunday for you all. Xx

Trazzletoes · 12/01/2017 14:06

Thanks all.

I'm from the South East originally and have worked in London so I think we should be fine.

Agree chemo sucks. Though this stuff is so mild I'm having constant arguments with myself that we should be doing MORE although I know MORE does not equal better. Plus there isn't really a MORE to do.
