Does anyone remember my little Blue-eyed Joseph? Bad news and I could use some support, please.

My 6 year old, Joseph, was diagnosed with stage 4 high risk neuroblastoma cancer when he was 3. He had 14 months off treatment and then had no evidence of disease for 2.5 years. We were starting to imagine a future for us all and make plans.

We found out a fortnight ago that he has relapsed. 5 year survival rates from here are less than 5%. Possibly even less than 1%, I can't remember. Chemo starts tomorrow, I am struggling to understand how this has happened to us again (because there is no reason) and how on earth we are going to make it through this. I know it's by taking a minute at a time, but it feels so huge right now.

I followed your story all those years ago. I always remember how much he loved sucking his thumb and how it got horribly infected. That broke my heart. I am so sorry. You all went through so much. He could not have had a more courageous mummy.

I’ve namechanged a few times, but was on your very first thread when Joseph first received his diagnosis a few years ago. I think of you all often, and of course, your wonderful, funny, caring little boy. How are you all coping day-to-day? How is your lovely DD? Love to you all X

I'm a regular namechanger but I've posted on a lot of your threads over the years. I still think of you regularly and hope you're ok.

I too think of you and your boy often. It's just so bloody unfair that our boys didn't get the chance of life they deserved.

I light candles regularly for my boy and all the other children who have gone too soon. This time of year is especially hard.

My boy loved the snow - we had a heavy downfall a few months before he died. We went out in his wheelchair and he got out of it to make snow angels.

Thinking of you all as you have just passed Joseph's anniversary. Such a terrible terrible milestone. There is nothing anyone can say to make any of it better. Just know that you are in my thoughts often and that your gorgeous boy, although I never met him, has had a great impact on many peoples lives. Love and strength from one bereaved parent to another xxxx
