DD6 has a lump in her neck

Should I be worried?

Definitely only one side. It's not the jawline glands it's further back. She is not ill in herself at all.

She said it's a bit sore (she drew my attention to it). It's visible without feeling when she tilts her head.

I'm scared. Google is not helpful.

My DS had similar when he was 3yo. Don't want to worry you but he required a week long stay in hospital for lymphadenitis. Symptoms the same as you describe.

Really hope it's nothing like that but do get it checked just to be on the safe side.

Google is always a harbinger of doom in these situations, don't go back there.

DS had similar and GP referred him for an ultrasound scan which thankfully confirmed it as a swollen gland and not anything sinister.

Book in with GP, I'm sure they will take you seriously and investigate appropriately.

Hope all is well Smile

Really try not to worry this is really common.

We noticed a lump about the size of an olive in DS's neck when he was three. Took him to GP who frightened us to death and referred him under the two week rule.

The consultant we saw was pretty cross (assumed he comes across this sort of thing all the time) and said straight away it was just a swollen lymph node that hadn't gone back to size after an infection (in DS's case he'd had a really bad bout of hand foot and mouth a few months before). He didn't even scan it or take any bloods. It's still there now but not as noticeable now his neck is more developed (he's 8).

Took her to the Dr today, she's on a high dose of antibiotic (4x per day for 7 days, I walked out with 2 bottles!) throat/gland infection though she says her throat isn't sore Hmm anyway, mind at ease. Smile
