toothpaste for fussy 6YO DS

I have tried loads of different toothpastes for kids, but DS hates the taste and says they are either too "strong" or that he doesn't like the taste. Can anyone recommend a mild toothpaste?

Crest does a mild mint one. It's not a kids one and I get it in home bargains. Aquafresh also does a mild mint one. You don't need a specific kids one at that age but avoid whitening ones as they are too abrasive. There is a non-flavoured one you can buy online too...oranurse I think

Tesco do a strawberry one that has the right amount of fluoride in it. My DS loves it!

have you tried kingfishers fennel. my mint hating ds has always used it

Does your nursery or school do 'Child Smile'? They have toothpaste that is very mild, its basicaly the only one my ds2 would use for years, he hates stronger toothpastes, they burn his mouth, will only use other if we have run out of his so now so I buy it in bulk! Dont know what we will do when he goes to high school

Peppa pig bubblegum (don't ask, I hate mint!!!) it has decent amount of fluoride in too

Just remember to look for 1450ppm fluoride in whatever toothpaste you choose

We also use the Tesco strawberry one for the same reason. I used to be quite judgy about flavoured toothpaste until fussy dd came along.

My DS uses the Tesco strawberry one too. I gave up forcing the mint ones on him the day he actually vomited while brushing his teeth.

Ds also uses the Tesco strawberry one, with a crocodile on the front. He won't have any mint ones, not even mild, as they are too strong for him.

I have bought some tesco strawberry flavour to test first, and if that doesn't work I'll have plenty of lovely suggestions to try. Thanks so much! And Sister, my DS also actually heaved a bit when made to use a regular kids' toothpaste. I felt like such an evil mum!

I actually thought toothpaste was meant to burn
Was only a few years ago my dad saw me going "ha ah ha" with mouth open and he was "WTF?!?"
America does the best selection, I'm using pink grapefruit at the minute. Lidl herbal is acceptable, also dawood and tanner delicious teeth in lemon or lime

Lidl do one that's a blue gel and the flavour is 'pirate fruits' it's not even remotely minty. More of a berry flavour. This was, for a long time the only toothpaste I could get DD to use (other than the first stage baby one). Be warned though it's a buggar to clean off the sink.

She has now progressed to the sensodine pronamal kids and I'm much happier with that as it less messy.

If you look for a neutral almost no taste paste, the red Elmex is good. For the fruity flavour, we like fluocaril red fruits. Don't buy the fluocaric bubble gum one, it's vile!

I was going to ask a thread similar to this ... my daughter is 6 & I considered switching to the Tesco toothpaste recently but it says for under 6s. We started using the aquafresh 6+ one but it testes and smells of perfume & she wont use it for more than 2 seconds before spitting it out. I don't blame her. Which is best to replace it?

Check the fluoride content on the one that says for under 6years as you may find it still has 1450ppm fluoride which is what they should use at age 6+ anyway

Lidl herbal one is very gentle in taste or the oranurse Polter suggested, that one has no smell or flavour and no foaming agent, I used it successfully for my children who have autism.
