botched ear piercing

After much badgering, I allowed my 8 year old to have her ears pierced, as many of her class do. We had it done around 3 months ago - now I've noticed that the piercing site seems to have "slipped" down and it looks like there is another hole that's healing. Not sure what to do. I've taken a pic if anyone wants to see and advise ?

It looks like it's rejecting, at first glance. Could you get a pic of the back of her ear, by any chance? Just so I can give you a more certain answer.

Try and take the pic from the side of her lobe, so you can see both ends of the earring.

Beauty - can I ask a quick question? DD wants hers done and I have said only if she gets a needle piercing because I don't trust the guns. Am I right or paranoid?!

Wheresthat, you're absolutely right. Guns are the bane of every professional piercer's life!

Not a professional piercer but have piercings.... Always go to a professional and reputable piercer rather than a teenager with a gun on the high street. Lots of parents prefer to take their dds somewhere "pretty" but a professional piercer will minimize issues.

Ah good. I will show her your post next time she begs to go to Claire's! Although she plays rugby so finding a time when it has long enough to heal is going to be fun anyway. Thank you!

Her ear was pierced at an angle, way too low on the lobe, and the earring is a very tight fit - I'm 99% it's rejecting. The weight of the jewellery is too much for young lobes like hers, especially pierced so low - it's growing itself out.

If I was you, I'd remove the earring before it gets any worse, and let it heal. Then if she still wants them pierced (give it at least 12 weeks before a repierce), please take her to a professional who will pierce the lobe again, in a much more central position, with a needle.

Obviously if I was able to see it in person, I could tell you this is what's happening for sure. But this is an educated guess. Hope I've helped

Can you take the earring out and take a photo from the front? Are there two holes and if so has she made one herself?

We took both out last night, she was more than happy to do it - not sure what's happened but she would never had made a hole herself!
Letting them heal up and see maybe again in the summer holidays. I won't be going back to the salon we went to xx

I know this thread is old but MrsFleming32- how did your daughter fare once you removed the earring? My daughter looks to have the same issue.
