Seizure after vacine

Our daughter (3) had two vaccines today. Immediately after which (10minutes or so) she had a short (10-15) second seizure. We went crashing right back into the nurses office and were told 'this is normal', then were referred back to a GP two hours later for a check up. They've been quick to dismiss any connection to the jab (she's never had any reaction to any jabs before) We have a further appointment with a hospital to investigate further, but I wandered if anyone else had any experience with this? Vaccine wise she had the PCV and DpTa

My child had afebrile (no fever) seizures 24 hours after dtap vaccine at 2 months, and then the same but worse starting 24 hours after dtap at 3 months. At three months it recurred from 24h after the vaccine for 5 days; she was hospitalised and the consultant diagnosis was ' neurological vaccine reaction'. I was encouraged to continue vaccinating however given that they couldn't explain why she had reacted, whether it would happen again and what early was happening to her nervous system, I declined. All they did say was that it may or may not recur if we continued with the series of vaccines, and that if it did recur it may be the same or worse.

She is now 3 and I live in fear of her catching a vaccine preventable disease. She has never had fits again though.

We have experience with seizures, although not vaccine related in our case, so I know how worrying they are. Frankly I'm astonished that they dismissed any connection to the vaccine OP as seizures are a recognized side effect (in the product leaflet) and the timing makes it overwhelmingly likely that the vaccine caused it, especially if she's not otherwise prone to seizures, but then we've had bad reactions to vaccines before and there does seem to be a reluctance to link the two by many HCPs. You can report the side effect via the MHRA's yellow card system to help build up a picture of numbers etc - it's just for suspected side effects so it doesn't matter that it isn't "proven".

Ouchy I think I would have made the same decision in your shoes. Do I have this right - your dd had multiple seizures after vaccines and you were encouraged to keep going?? If your case doesn't meet the criteria for 'medically unable to vaccinate' I do have to wonder what does! I understand your nervousness re. disease, but I think you can take some comfort that these are rare and your dd is likely to be fine.

Yes multiple seizures after the 3 month vaccinations, for a period of 5 days. She had about 15 in all. They were not prolonged though, each one lasted seconds rather than minutes. Still very alarming though obviously.
