paediatric refferal waiting times

hi i have a five year old daughter who has been ill for months now i have been fobed off and given antibiotics but nobody seems to know what is wrong with her i have now been given a refferal to a paediatric specialist but could be waiting months meanwhile my child is getting no better and i am fearing the worst what can i do any ideas

Hi mumbles It must be a very stressful and worrying time for you.
Can you tell me a little bit more about your daughters symptoms.
And what HCPs have seen her/been in touch with you?
I'm just trying to think how you can get her refferal hurried up!
It may be a case of going back to your GP every day week and getting them to bombard the consultant with letters and emails.

My DD(3) has been through an awful time with a similar problem lately and I really do sympathise

hi i have seen my GP, an out of hours DR at hospital, A&E, they have reffered her to paediactric specialist but could be months for appointment her symptoms started with infections one after the other ear, throat, chest and skin she had three lots of antibiotics in as many weeks. then she just never seemed to recover going downhill rapidly it may be easier if i just list them below.

several infections
high temp
/low temp
headaches
stomach aches
fatigue
weight loss
pale colour
anemia
loss of apetiete
sleeping alot

Your poor DD. Seeing your child go downhill is very scary especially when it doesn't seem to be being taken seriously.

It just so happens that my older dd had very similar problem between the ages of 4-5 luckily for us she did get to see a consultant quickly but nothing 'wrong was found' she then had adenoids out and grommets put in and has been healthy from that moment onwards.
Has your dd had her adenoids checked out? It was the source of my DDs infection. She was ill every month.
Of course it may be a completely different issue that is causing your DDs illness but I just wanted to add our experience in the hope it brings some comfort.

I would go back to your GP and ask for another letter to be sent so you can be seen more urgently. They do usually have the power to do this.
I know there is also an emergency refferal that can be done and you can be seen in the next few weeks.

Ds had similar last term. He was referred urgently to paediatrics (following a blood test) and the appointment was a month away. GP was unimpressed as he was looking for the next week at latest. Thankfully nothing has been found and he seems to be getting better.
