I have moved this to child health board as I don't think aibu is appropriate anymore.
What began as a quick question has become 2 now 3
The support on these threads has highlighted the best qualities of mumsnet and I am so grateful to every lovely person who has supported me so far! Thanks

Very pleased you are on the way to a new hospital. Hoping very much that this is the start of the treatment that actually makes her better. Safe journey.

LaContessaDiPlump · 18/04/2016 11:31

Yay! Very glad you are moving and that Klean prep is done with. Fingers crossed for Leicester.

A random question: if they do see a need for surgery then will she be weighed before and after the procedure? I imagine there would be a certain amount of medical interest in how much poo a small child can hold. It's the sort of detail that you may want to embarrass DD with when she's older and sick of the re-telling of that time when she was in hospital Wink as GreenMarkerPen says, this will soon all be in the past.

mateysmum · 18/04/2016 11:33

In a funny way you don't want her to be to happy when she sees the Leicester doctor. They need to be convinced to do something asap to help her.
Finger's crossed that you get a plan of action today.

Colliefeatures · 18/04/2016 11:34

Delurking again to say good luck at the new hospital!! Im often thinking of you and your little DD FlowersFlowers

RunswickBay · 18/04/2016 11:35

Good luck. Do they know why she isn't responding to klean prep?
Does this seem to indicate something? Does it point to Hirschprungs?
Will they test for that?
I'm only saying these as suggestions for things you might want to ask as i know I get befuddled when tired and drained.

Love and peace to your dd and you all

littlemaemae · 18/04/2016 11:37

I am interested in the weight of it too. She was 11kg before all of this and is now 13.5kg so I imagine that is rather a lot of poo!

Vague, your suggestion of hursprungs actually got us listened to and her taken into hospital. So I can not thank you enough, we hadn't even heard of the condition before.

I just want to let you know how the support and kindness everyone has given us had made the biggest difference with how I personally have managed to deal with this.
I would have been a helpless wreck, crying, losing my temper, having anxiety attacks.

Thank you so so so much I really wish I could give everyone a hug Thanks

Good luck for today and the move. I hope it brings the start of the end of this stay. X

VagueIdeas · 18/04/2016 11:41

I'm so glad my throwaway suggestion about Hirschsprung's helped you. You'll have grounds for a massive complaint if it is. It was the FIRST THING the paed mentioned when my DD was referred as a baby. The first bloody thing! To think you've been fobbed off for years like you have, it's a disgrace.

Anyway - onwards and upwards. I hope Leicester take things very seriously.

Footle · 18/04/2016 11:44

LaContessa, I don't mean to offend you but I can't imagine this whole episode is ever going to cause much amusement in Mae's household. There's more to this than a large lump of faeces.

RunswickBay · 18/04/2016 11:48

Hang in there maemae. You're doing really well holding it together and being with your dd. She's lucky to have such a brilliant mum.

I hope Leicester gives you the answers you deserve

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 18/04/2016 11:50

Good luck today!

You're doing brilliantly, your dd is a very lucky little girl to have such a wonderful mummy.

Hope today goes well xx

LaContessaDiPlump · 18/04/2016 11:57

Footle I certainly didn't mean to cause any offence myself, especially to the op; obviously there is far more to this than a 'lump of poo'! But humans are weird creatures and small details like that are the ones that get carried forward into the family story.

In my family there are 'funny' stories about my grandfather being urgently hospitalised over Christmas, his near-blindness due to cataracts noticed only at the last minute, my near-brush with melanoma and many others. They become survivor stories that you tell and re-tell in the family (and with friends) and they kind of knit you together. Obviously you don't need them (!) but I do think they're part of how we rationalise and get through hard times.

I'm thinking of a time when LittleMae's condition (whatever it might be) is under control and a relatively minor emotional burden in the family's life rather than the massive emotional and practical one that it is being right now. I'm trying to be positive without being dismissive of the current crapness (tricky I admit)!

Hope I didn't offend op Thanks

Neeko · 18/04/2016 11:57

Good luck today. Check this thread regularly but don't have any advice.
I think you are doing really well though . Thanks

Rachel0Greep · 18/04/2016 11:59

All the very best to both of you. Fingers crossed that things get sorted for her in Leicester, and that you are both home soon. Glad that the online support helped, you have been absolutely brilliant all through this, so don't forget that either. Flowers

ScrambledSmegs · 18/04/2016 12:24

I've just read all your threads. You've been and continue to be wonderful, littlemae. It never ceases to amaze me how parents can find hidden reserves of strength out of nothing to keep going for their children. I hope that the new hospital can make a plan to help your DD.

Rezolution123 · 18/04/2016 12:24

Anxious for you today. Hope the transfer goes smoothly.
Praying for better news tomorrow.

Footle · 18/04/2016 12:33

LaContessa, I shouldn't have shoved my oar in. I'm sure Mae won't be offended anyway, you meant it nicely.

TheMaddHugger · 18/04/2016 12:39

((((((((((Hugs)))))))))) Hopes and Prayers Xx

LaContessaDiPlump · 18/04/2016 13:00

You didn't offend me Footle, don't worry. If you'd called me some names then maybe, but you were very civil Grin

Fingerbobs · 18/04/2016 13:05

Yet another voice to add to the chorus saying what an amazing job you're doing and sending you all the good wishes there are for you and your family and especially the smallest. Flowers

Headofthehive55 · 18/04/2016 13:06

good luck! Hope they get her sorted!
